Nepal seeks support from India, China, Interpol in gold smuggling case probe

(Express File Photo) Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda) on Tuesday said his government has sought help from India and China as well as the Interpol in its probe into the controversial gold smuggling case.
Throughout his two-hour interaction with the media, Prachanda kept accusing the main opposition and its leader K P Oli of corruption. “Why is the opposition not cooperating with the government in the probe instead obstructing parliament, which has to pass many important legislations?” he asked.
Nepal’s Revenue Investigation Department on July 19 seized 100 Kg gold after it was cleared by the Customs Department of the International airport. In the probe, it was found that the consignment originated from China (Hong Kong) with Delhi its final destination.
