MrBeast faces legal challenge: Lawsuit alleges toxic environment on set

Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, is YouTube’s biggest star, boasting half a billion fans and a thriving business empire. However, a 54-page lawsuit filed by five female contestants from his upcoming Prime Video show, Beast Games, may pose his most significant challenge yet.

The lawsuit, lodged in Los Angeles against MrBeast’s production company MrB2024 and Amazon, claims that contestants faced a “systematically fostered culture of misogyny and sexism.”

As one of the largest reality competition series, with 1,000 participants vying for a $5 million prize, the allegations have put the show in jeopardy, according to a report by BBC.

According to the redacted court documents, contestants allege they were “underfed and overtired,” with meals provided “sporadically and sparsely,” which purportedly “endangered the health and welfare” of those involved.

Reports indicate that several participants were hospitalised, with claims that some went over 20 hours without food and did not receive their medications on time.

The BBC has reached out to both MrBeast and Amazon for comments, but there has been no public response from MrBeast thus far.

This latest controversy comes on the heels of other scandals, including accusations against his former co-host Ava Kris Tyson of grooming a teenager—claims Tyson has denied but acknowledged past inappropriate behaviour.
