CBS News, which spoke to two officials briefed on his medical condition, however, added that it was unclear how extensive the bleeding was.
Videos from the scene of the shooting on January 7 showed Ross walking away after the incident.

Kristi Noem, the Homeland Security secretary, previously acknowledged that Ross was taken to the hospital after the shooting and was released the same day.
She said he was recovering from his injuries, describing him as an experienced law enforcement officer who believed he was defending himself and fellow agents.
US President Donald Trump also defended Ross, claiming that the ICE agent was lucky to be alive after the “disorderly” woman hit him with her vehicle.
“The woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting, who then violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE officer, who seems to have shot her in self defense. It is hard to believe he is still alive, but is now recovering in the hospital,” Trump claimed in a post on Truth Social.
Ross, a 10-year law enforcement veteran with ICE, has not returned to work since the fatal shooting, and his whereabouts remain unknown.
US Border Patrol Commander Gregory Bovino told CBS News on Sunday that Ross “has had several threats against his life,” adding, “he’s in a safe location. He’s recovering from those injuries, and we’re thankful that he’s recovering.”
