UAE gets seat on IAEA board

The UAE has been elected to the board of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The UAE has been elected to the board of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

In a statement released on UAE’s news agency WAM,Hamad Ali Al Kaabi,the permanent representative of the UAE to the UN’s nuclear watchdog,described his country’s selection to the board as a significant step.

“It is a great opportunity to play a role in the decision-making in this important global forum to support the Agency in achieving its goals,strengthen its role in working on nuclear non-proliferation and international expansion in the field of clean energy use and the peaceful use of atomic energy,” he said.

Al Ka’abi said the accepted bid also coincides with the steps taken by the UAE in terms of its peaceful nuclear energy,which depends on transparency,clarity and commitment to the highest standards of safety and security.
