But before the hearing could start, there was much drama as Noem was heckled by a group of protesters.
In videos posted on social media, protesters could be heard confronting Noem and singing the “Star Wars” theme song.

It’s actually quite funny. They just don’t know when to shut up. pic.twitter.com/2hLd5TP387
It is yet unclear who the protesters are and what the motive was behind their action.
Noem is testifying in front of the House Committee on Homeland Security to discuss “Worldwide Threats to the Homeland,” which in years past have focused on issues such as cybersecurity, terrorism, China and border security.

This was the first time since May that Noem has appeared before Congress.
The hearing comes as the Department of Homeland Security Secretary continues to face criticism over the Donald Trump administration’s mass deportations agenda.
Meanwhile, Axios on Thursday reported that Delia Ramirez, the Democratic Representative from Illinois, is pressing the House Judiciary Committee to begin impeachment hearings into Noem.
In a letter to Judiciary Committee chair Jim Jordan, the Republican Representative from Ohio and ranking member Jamie Raskin, the Democratic Representative from Maryland, Ramirez demanded a “complete investigation into Secretary Noem’s unlawful and potentially impeachable actions.”

Ramirez accused Noem of unethical behaviour and alleged that she made “false and misleading” statements to Congress about DHS and ICE operations.
