County deputies said the suspect — a black male, wearing a white shirt, dark pants, tennis shoes and a fishing hat — was recorded on surveillance video entering the store, purchasing cigars and then pulling out a gun and shooting the clerk on the face.

A makeshift memorial has been placed at the convenience store in honour of Patel. Flowers, balloons and letters rest a feet away from where she was found.

The deputies said that the suspect did not take anything from the shop. A probe has been launched into the incident.
