According to Dawn News, Uzma who was accompanied by scores of PTI supporters, went inside the Adiala Jail and met the former Pakistan Prime Minister.
Uzma said she was “happy to finally receive permission for the meeting” and added that she would speak to the media after returning from jail.
The development comes as PTI supporters continue their protest, seeking the whereabouts of Khan, who has been behind bars since August 2023, when he was found guilty on corruption charges.
PTI supporters also held protests outside the Islamabad High Court despite Section 144 being in force there.
As demonstrations were held in Islamabad, Minister of State for Interior Tallal Chaudhry said Section 144 would be strictly enforced in both Islamabad and Rawalpindi, where PTI has planned protests, Dawn reported.
He warned that “whether they come to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) or the Adiala jail, action under Section 144 would be carried out without any discrimination,” urging PTI-backed lawmakers to “abide by the law.”
Over the past few weeks, there have been growing speculations about the condition of 73-year-old Khan, whom his family alleges is being kept in solitary confinement at the Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.
Khan’s family members have repeatedly alleged that they are unable to meet him for several weeks, despite court orders granting them permission.
On Monday, Kasim Khan, the son of the former Pakistan PM, had expressed fears that the authorities are concealing “something irreversible” about his father’s condition.
“Not knowing whether your father is safe, injured or even alive is a form of psychological torture,” Khan told Reuters.
According to Express Tribune, Khan’s another sister Aleema Khan, on Tuesday, filed a contempt of court petition against the Adiala Jail authorities for allegedly defying a binding IHC order that permits meetings with him.
