With at least 51 Senate seats secured, Republicans will retake control of the chamber for the first time in four years.

Most of the important people who have been a part of Trump’s campaign joined him on stage in West Palm Beach, Florida. Former first lady Melania Trump stood near her husband and was joined by Barron, the former president’s youngest son. Trump’s older children, Don Jr., Eric, Ivanka and Tiffany, all joined their father on stage, too.
Here are the takeaways from his speech after he was announced the President-elect:
📌 Call to Unite Country
Donald Trump kicked off his victory speech with a call to unite the country. “It’s time to put the divisions of the past four years behind us,” Trump said. “It’s time to unite.” “We have to put our country first for at least a period of time,” he added. “We have to fix it.”
📌 Hails Senate Win
Donald Trump duly recognized the GOP wins in his speech. “The number of victories in the senate was absolutely incredible,” Trump said. He added that he expected Republicans to hold the House and complimented House Speaker Mike Johnson.
📌 A Promise to fight for Americans
In his speech, Trump also promised that he would “not rest until he has delivered the strong safe and prosperous America”. “Every single day,” Trump said, “I will be fighting for you with every breath in my body.”
📌 ‘We Made History’
Hailing the victory as historic, Trump said: “This was a movement like nobody’s ever seen before, and frankly, this was, I believe, the greatest political movement of all time. There’s never been anything like this in this country, and maybe beyond.”

He added: “And now it’s going to reach a new level of importance, because we’re going to help our country. We’ll help our country … we have a country that needs help, and it needs help very badly. We’re going to fix our borders. We’re going to fix everything about our country. And we made history for a reason tonight, and the reason is going to be just that we overcame obstacles that nobody thought possible, and it is now clear that we’ve achieved the most incredible political thing.”
📌 ‘A Star is Born… Elon’
Elon Musk, who has been backing Trump since the former President was shot at, found great mention in Trump’s speech today. “We have a new star, a star is born: Elon,” Trump told his supporters. “He’s an amazing guy. We were sitting together tonight. You know, he spent two weeks in Philadelphia, in different parts of Pennsylvania, campaigning. Only Elon can do this,” Trump said, while adding, “That’s why I love you, Elon.”
📌 Remembering the assassination attempt
“God spared my life for a reason,” said Trump, remembering the assassination attempt on him on July 13.
