Abigail Jackson said House Democrats are “selectively releasing cherry-picked photos. (Photo: X/@ATJackson47) House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries has urged the Trump administration to “comply with the law” and release the full set of Justice Department files related to Jeffrey Epstein. Speaking to reporters, Jeffries said his party would keep pressing the Department of Justice to meet the 19 December deadline set by Congress. His comments were reported by The Guardian.
Jeffries said, “The so-called Department of Justice under the Trump administration needs to comply with the law. These people who are part of the Trump administration, including Donald Trump and JD Vance, all said for years that they wanted to release the Epstein files.
Didn’t they come into office and do the exact opposite, obstruct and obfuscate, hide stuff from the American people? All we want is full transparency so that the American people can get the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.”
Today’s release by House Democrats included 19 photos from Epstein’s estate. The photos, part of a larger cache of 95,000 images, show Epstein with various prominent figures, but Republicans argue this is a political tactic targeting Trump. The photos have added political pressure ahead of the deadline.

A spokesperson for President Trump, Abigail Jackson, criticised the release. In comments reported by the Associated Press, Jackson said Democrats were “selectively releasing cherry-picked photos with random redactions to try and create a false narrative”. She said the Trump administration had “done more to help Jeffrey Epstein’s victims” by releasing thousands of pages of documents.
Republicans who lead the House oversight committee also attacked the release, calling it “a handful of selectively censored and ‘cherry-picked’ photos”. They said: “Democrats’ hoax against President Trump has been completely debunked. Nothing in the documents we’ve received shows any wrongdoing.”
Congressman Ro Khanna, a co-sponsor of the law ordering the full release of Justice Department material on Epstein, said the photos “document Epstein’s elite and powerful circle”. Speaking to The Guardian, Khanna said this was “why we must push for more information”.
Khanna added that the legislation requires the Department of Justice to release the files in a searchable form and that “any redactions must be accompanied by a written justification”. He said he would watch closely for any attempt to delay the full release.
