Chinmoy Krishna Das, who had been leading rallies demanding security for Hindus in Bangladesh, was arrested from Dhaka airport on November 25 while travelling to Chattogram. (ANI) A Bangladeshi advocate, representing arrested Hindu monk Chinmay Krishna Das in court, Monday said he has been receiving death threats ever since he took up the case, and that he will not be deterred by the same.
The 74-year-old Supreme Court lawyer, Rabindra Ghosh, alleged that the charges against Das, a spokesperson for the Bangladesh Sammilita Sanatani Jagran Jote, are politically motivated, linked to his activism for uniting the Hindu community.
Das was arrested last month on alleged false charges while en route to a rally in Chattogram. Das continues to remain in jail after being denied bail. His previous counsel was allegedly attacked brutally earlier this month, leaving him without any representation in court. Following this, the hearing in his case was postponed to January 2.
