“Kristin Cabot is no longer with Astronomer, she has resigned,” a company spokesperson told CNBC on Thursday. Cabot was the Chief People Officer at Astronomer.
Andy Byron resigned from his position at Astronomer last week after the company said in its official statement that the CEO would be placed on leave during an internal investigation into the matter. Pete DeJoy, the company’s founder and chief product officer, stepped in as the interim CEO after Byron’s exit.
Byron, who is married with children, was seen embracing Cabot when the ‘kiss cam’ at a Coldplay concert panned across to them. The two immediately hid their faces, with Byron jumping off camera when they saw themselves on the big screen. Coldplay front man Chris Martin jokingly said, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”
The video of the incident was posted on social media by an attendee, and went viral, with over 100 million views.
Astronomer soon announced an internal investigation and said that the CEO of the company would be placed on leave till the probe concludes. Days later, the company posted a statement saying Byron has resigned.
“Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted. The Board will begin a search for our next Chief Executive as Co-founder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy continues to serve as interim CEO,” the company said in a statement.
Astronomer, a tech company that deals with artificial intelligence and data analytics, said that the awareness about their company “changed overnight” due to the incident. “We’re continuing to do what we do best: helping our customers with their AI problems,” the firm said.
