Maoist Chief Prachanda wins with slender Margin from ‘second constituency’

Prachanda won the seat,defeating his nearest rival Leelanath Shrestha by 923 votes.

Maoist Chairman Prachanda who has announced to disown the poll outcome in the wake of crushing defeat of his Party won with a slender margin from Siraha-5,the second constituency he was contesting from.

The election commission announced early morning on Saturday that Prachanda won the seat,defeating his nearest rival Leelanath Shrestha of the Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist by 923 votes,amid boycott of the counting by Shrestha’s group.

“We had give in writing to the election commission on Tuesday soon after the election was over that Maoists had captured booths in three village development council,but the EC chose not to entertain it,”.

Along with Prachanda,Upendra Yadav,Chairman of the Madhesi Forum who had also announced ‘boycott’ of the CA following his personal as well as party’s humiliating defeat ,won from Sunsari five.

Another stalwart of the Madhes politics,and Chairman of the Tarai Madhes Lpktantrik Party also suffered a humiliating defeat from Sarlahi -6 in the hands of the Nepali Congress candidate Amaresh Kumar Singh.

Latest tally indicate that the Nepali Congress had won 89 seats closely followed by the UL with 87 while Maoist stood distant third with 15. EC said most of the results of 240 constituencies under the first past the post will be available by tonight,and counting for 335 seats under the proportional representation system has also started.
