It’s been a while since we’ve seen Javed Jaffrey in a Maggi Hot & Sweet ad. The 90s’ kids would remember the tagline “it’s different” delivered by Jaffrey and Pankaj Kapur with perfect comic timing. Maggi Hot & Sweet has returned with an ad featuring Jaffrey and Nawazuddin Siddiqui as a married couple!
In the ad, the wife — played by Jaffrey — takes an offence to Siddiqui’s husband referring to Maggi Hot & Sweet sauce as just a sauce. Jaffrey explains with all the wifely patience he could muster, “It’s different”. A patriarchal Siddiqui replies that it was different at his home, where his father ate first, followed by his mother. Jaffrey takes a pitiful look at Siddiqui’s late father’s portrait and says no wonder he passed away first.
While it looks like the married couple is set to go on bickering for a while, Jaffrey asks for truce and offers Siddiqui a samosa dipped in Maggi Hot & Sour sauce. A touched Siddiqui replies to his wife that while she was hot once, she is now sweet too.
