WATCH: Arvind Kejriwal shared this ‘demonetisation anthem’ as a must-see, and people seem to love it!

The parody of hit Raj Kapoor song ‘Jeena isi ka naam hai’ sung by Mukesh has been repurposed to highlight the pains of the move to abolish higher currency tender.

Chaotic scenes played out across India over the weekend, with long lines growing even longer and scuffles breaking out, as millions of anxious people tried to change old currency notes that became worthless days earlier when the government demonetized high-value bills. Demonetisation may have been termed as a ‘surgical strike’ on black money by Prime Minister Narendra Modi but even people supporting the move agree that there are many woes attached to it. With long serpentine lines to tragic deaths, it has been criticised for its execution. While tussle between the government and opposition continues, the common man has been trying to cope up with the ‘helpless situation’ in their own way – sometimes with humour and sometimes with sarcasm.

We have already come across many spoof videos reacting to the currency ban and very recently we saw an influx of regional songs praising the PM for the move. From Rajasthjan to Bihar, people have been shaking legs to the peppy ‘note ban’ songs this wedding season.

Now, after all fun, there is a ‘demonetisation anthem’ that’s doing round on social media. The parody of hit Raj Kapoor song ‘Jeena isi ka naam hai’ sung by Mukesh has been repurposed to highlight the pains of the move to abolish higher currency tender.

The song takes a dig at PM Modi and alleges that there’s “loot in the name of desh-prem (patriotism)”. The visual shows people standing in long queue outside bank – a symbol that has even inspired a NASA image!

The song was even shared by Delhi Chief Minsiter Arvind Kejriwal saying, “Someone sent this anthem of demonitization. U must must must hear this. Super. And share it widely.”

Agreeable or not, the catchy tune and lyrics might have clicked with the audiences and the video has been trending on Youtube since it was uploaded on November 25.
