Whenever Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaenge, fondly called DDLJ, is broadcast on TV, it’s hard to hit the next button because this ’90s film taught its generation what love is all about, how rebellion can take you places and, that Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol are the best on-screen couple ever. The movie has also been criticised for encouraging patriarchy but its fans are loyal.
The love can be measured by the fact that the movie has been running in Mumbai’s Maratha Mandir for over 20 years now despite the management deciding to stop screening the film in February last year. But it’s difficult to get over the love story of Raj and Simran. Isn’t it?
And while talking about DDLJ, how can we forget the iconic ‘Jaa Simran Jaa’ scene at the end of the movie which, in fact, has been turned into memes and people have put their collective minds into concluding why didn’t Simran board the train from the previous gate. Well, the answer to that has still not been found!
Nevertheless, in fond memory of that one scene, ‘2 foreigners in Bollywood’ decided to remake it in their own way and the result is hilarious.
Just FYI, ‘2 foreigners in Bollywood’ are Hampus Bergqvist and Johan Bartoli who are management graduates from Sweden and it’s their love for Bollywood that brought them to India. The two have acted in a couple of Bollywood films like Deet Patangey, Banjo and Rangoon.
