Even as the Faiz Literary Festival concluded in Pakistan’s Lahore on Sunday, a video of a group of students singing the song ‘Sarfaroshi ki Tamanna’ and urging people to join their solidarity march on November 29 has gone viral.
The video, which has been tweeted by a journalist, shows students “demanding freedom, freedom to read and freedom to choose their partner” during the literary festival held in memory of the birth anniversary of the poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz.
Viewed over four lakh times, the viral clip shows a woman narrating the important verses of the poem as the crowd gathered around her chant and clap with approval.
