Woman shares experience inside Air India flight from Mumbai to MelbourneSharell Cook said there was two hours of chaos in line for the check-in counter.

Sharell Cook, an author from Australia who lives in Mumbai, took to X on Thursday to share her “worst flight” experience. Cook said she “foolishly” decided to take the new Air India direct flight from Mumbai to Melbourne recently thinking “how bad can it be”.

Cook said “unfortunately, it was the worst flight I’ve ever been on from start to finish”.
She said there was two hours of chaos in line for the check-in counter. Then once onboard the flight, there was a delay of an hour on the tarmac without any announcements or updates as to when the flight might depart.

Cook said the post-departure refreshments were served without alcohol. She asked for white wine but was told only red wine was available. Then alcohol and snacks were only served between breakfast and lunch, she said. Cook also wrote how non-veg meals were served only to those who pre-ordered them.

Also, it was an old plane with no inflight entertainment, she said. However, there was plenty of leg room and it was quite comfortable, she said. The flight arrived in Melbourne 30 minutes late and they had to spend another 20 minutes sitting on the plane, while the staff sprayed it for insects, she said.

“Staff did not hand out any arrival cards for immigration,” she wrote further. She also said the service was “in general inefficient and disorganised”. Passengers had to repeat requests, she wrote. On top of it all, she said the man occupying the seat in front of her littered the floor.

“I flew London Delhi in November and it was a nightmare. No entertainment, no water was served, no drinks were served, light not working, stale food. Rude staff,” a user commented.

“All I can say is that you have high hopes that @airindia will even flinch with your feedback, I have been giving feedback about lousy experience on their long haul flights for over 4 years now, leave alone an acknowledgment, no action ever taken,” another person wrote. “I don’t think you would have booked a flight with Indian Airlines if people’s nightmarish experiences with AI had been circulated widely online. Your thread is definitely going to save many people,” another user said.
