Video creator Saheli Rudra, who has over nine lakh followers on Instagram, recently went viral with a video of her dancing to a Bollywood song at one of the waiting areas at the Kolkata airport. The song Rudra danced to is called Lovely from Shah Rukh Khan’s movie Happy New Year, directed by Farah Khan. The song features Khan, Deepika Padukone, Sonu Sood, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani and Vivan Shah.
She captioned the video, “Girte girte bach geyi (I almost fell).” It has already garnered over 6,000 likes and comments.
Many content creators break into impromptu dance performances at crowded places like markets, railway stations and airports, all to film reel videos. Some even dance inside local trains, buses and even flights, often annoying and inconveniencing other passengers.
On seeing the video, netizens roasted Rudra in the comments. One user said, “Dance ye kar rahi hai sharm mujhe arahi hai (She is the one dancing but I am the one feeling ashamed).” A second user wrote, “After the dance, how do handle the people who stare at you? Its sooo embarassing.” Another user said, “Airport ? But why at airport?”
A user, supporting Rudra, commented, “You doing great. Public stunts aren’t everybody’s cup of tea👏 But maintaining dignity and decorum in certain places is essential. By upholding standards, we not only show respect for ourselves but also create an environment where others treat us with respect.”
