‘Cutest moment’: Kids welcome Virat Kohli with red roses at Raipur hotel

After his remarkable performance in the series opener on Sunday in Ranchi, Virat Kohli arrived in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, on Tuesday ahead of the second One Day International ODI of the three-match series against South Africa. The upcoming match is scheduled for Wednesday at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium.

Upon arrival, Kohli reached the team hotel, where young fans greeted him with cheers and smiles. In the viral video, children can be seen welcoming the star cricketer with red roses. Kohli receives the flowers with a warm smile while walking inside the hotel.

The video caught the internet’s attention, drawing a wave of reactions, with several users calling the moment “cute.”

“Wow, so cute. I remember in the 2023 World Cup as well all the kids surrounded Kohli and forgot Rohit was also there,” a user wrote. “Scenes like this show what Virat means to a whole generation. For these kids, it is more than meeting a cricketer; it is meeting the hero they grew up copying in gullies and school grounds,” another user commented.

Sunday’s game in Ranchi saw a packed stadium, and a similar turnout is expected in Raipur, despite the match being scheduled midweek. This will be only the second ODI ever hosted at the venue.

On Sunday, a young fan ran onto the pitch and fell at Kohli’s feet after the cricketer hit his 52nd century in the format. The viral video shows the fan crossing the boundary wall, breaching security, and sprinting towards Kohli. The fan was overwhelmed, as if he couldn’t believe he had met his cricket idol.
