The Uttarakhand Police said for the first time it was training a street dog to join its canine squad, where mostly foreign breeds like German Shepherds and Labradors are preferred to sniff out explosives and drugs.
The 1.14-minute clip, which has gone viral on social media, shows the canine squad jumping through hurdles and performing acrobatic stunts. In the end, the stray dog is seen going through the paces.
Once shared online, the video triggered several reactions, with many lauding the police department for the move. “Great step, please keep uploading videos like these,” wrote a user on the viral post.
