The National Innovation Foundation aims “to help India become a creative and knowledge-based society by expanding policy and institutional space for grassroots technological innovators.”
Kids and their keen sense of observation often lead to simple but effective solutions for everyday problems. Now a video that documents some of these innovative solutions is raking in likes.
An Instagram user Pritika Loonia shared a small Instagram clip that showed illustrations of innovations such as a solar-powered ironing cart, a colour-coded thermometer for better reading of temperature, a cooking stove that can be closed with a password, foot operated door that can be helpful for waiters who have both their hands occupied, water purifiers that can be fitted at source, and a school bag that comes with foldable wheeled legs so that the bag’s weight can be distributed evenly.
This clip has over nine lakh likes. Commenting on it, an Instagram user wrote, “This whole thing reminds me of a science exhibition used to held in our school jab marks k liye brainstorming karke naye problem dhundte phir unke solutions.May all these little minds never stop their thinking, imagination and curiosity”.
Another person wrote, “Sadly, with time, these innovations will get crushed due to lack of exposure, resources and of course, privilege.”
These ‘innovations’ made by school kids around India, were documented by the National Innovation Foundation (NIF), an autonomous body of the Department of Science and Technology. As per NIF’s website, the initiative’s aim is “to help India become a creative and knowledge-based society by expanding policy and institutional space for grassroots technological innovators.”
