It’s a sad truth that having men unabashedly masturbating in front of girls – that too in public – is quite common. Many times, girls ignore the horrifying act thinking it would fetch no results, but things are changing as these two girls from Mumbai have shown us. When a man on a motorbike started masturbating right in front of them as they travelled in an auto, the girls refused to ignore it and took action.

They took pictures of the culprit and immediately tweeted the photo out, tagging the official handle of the Mumbai Police. “@MumbaiPolice this man started masturbating looking at my friends! This has happened today! Please take action!” one of them tweeted.

Mumbai police were quick to respond and they asked the girls to share further details as direct messages.

Reportedly, within 3 hours the man – who has been identified as Rais Likayat Qureshi, a 35-year-old resident of Bandra – was caught. This was possible because the girls also had the presence of mind to take a picture of the bike’s licence plate and shared with the police.

“Looking at the girls, the accused flashed his private parts and began masturbating on the moving bike. The teenage girls were horrified, but did the smartest thing by clicking his photographs and catching him in the act,” an officer from Khar police station told Mid-Day.

“After checking the CCTV footage, we had a vague idea of where he was staying. His photograph was then shown to the beat officers and other staff in the team. Luckily, some of them identified Qureshi and we arrested him,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone IX) Satyanarayan Chaudhary was quoted as saying.
