Twinkle Khanna took to Twitter in support of husband Akshay Kumar after veteran journalist Vinod Dua called out the actor for a ‘crass’ remark to comedienne and daughter Mallika Dua. Sharing a leaked video from the shoot of The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, he wrote “I am going to sc**w this cretin Akshay Kumar for telling his co-worker Mallika Dua that ‘Aap bell bajao, main aap ko bajata hun’ (You ring the bell, I will bang you)… This is his sense of humour and language… Star Plus… Wake up.” Mallika too, took to Twitter to justify her stand on the matter. And, now, Khanna has raised her voice on the micro-blogging site in support of her husband by saying, “Words, especially humour has to be seen in its right context.” Her stand has created a buzz on Twitter — with many supporting her, while others not.

According to her post, Mrs Funnybones is of the opinion that Kumar’s statement was in fact “A pun on the words and actions related to the ringing of the bell. It’s a colloquial phrase that both men and women use.” Khanna asks that by that virtue, should “Mr Dua’s statement also be taken literally or interpreted in context?” While emphasising on how she has always been a champion of freedom within comedy, she ended her post by asking people to stop tagging her in the Twitter mentions that were discussing the issue.

Here are some of the reactions the post generated on Twitter.
