On Friday, Vice-President Hamid Ansari launched his book Citizen and Society which is a collection of lectures delivered by on him on topics ranging from the role of women in a multicultural society to dynamics of a democratic nation. The book was released by President Pranab Mukherjee who also spoke at length about the importance of democracy.
“We cannot forget that without effective engagement we cannot achieve success and protest democracy. Democracies are noisy, maybe ours is a little too noisy. But it always pays if we engage ourselves with the issues,” said Mukherjee.
Ansari also emphasised on the importance of accepting diversity. “India needs to develop a mindset to move beyond tolerance to acceptance of diversity,” he said.
The event was also attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was caught unawares by a photojournalist probably while intently listening to the speakers at the event. In the picture, Modi is sitting face down in front of a number of people including former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

This is not the first time, a picture of Modi has gone viral. Remember his picture following Obama clicked at G-20 Hangzhou Summit in China? Well, that became fodder for Twitter trolls too.
