What does ‘living in the moment’ really mean? There’s no definite answer because it means different things to different people depending on their experiences in life. Their are people who don’t even believe in it because they care more about the future and constantly work towards that while forgetting to live in the present. As the famous quote by Dolly Parton goes, “Don’t get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life.”
A Humans of Bombay post has gone viral with over 1,200 shares because it touched a chord with many. In the post, photographer Michaela Gramolla shares her opinion on what, according to her, is ‘living in the moment’. It might make sense to you!
“I’ve heard people say ‘lets live for the moment’ and then they go out and party and I can’t help but think that that’s not living. Living for me is travelling and creating experiences that shift my perceptions. Like right now, I feel like I’m really living…I’m waiting for the sunset and doing absolutely nothing else, but I love every second of it,” she says.
Sometimes, sitting idle, watching out of the window means living. Sometimes, losing yourself to the music and dancing like there’s no tomorrow means living. To each his own. While many connect with what she says, there are people who don’t quite agree. “I don’t think there’s anything wrong with how others choose to live in the moment. It might be easier for them! Technically, traveling is just as distracting as partying due to so much stimuli. Live in the moment the way you want to!” wrote a user.
