(Image source: @thewhatup/Instagram)Amid severe flooding in Uttarakhand, a group of BEd students from Rajasthan reached their exam centre in the hill state by helicopter after landslides blocked road access.
The students – Omaram Choudhary, Magaram Choudhary, Prakash Choudhary, and Lucky Choudhary – are pursuing their degree through correspondence from Uttarakhand Open University. They were scheduled to appear for their final semester exam at RS Tolia PG College in Munsiyari on September 3, NDTV reported.
Although they managed to reach Haldwani in Uttarakhand by road, taxi drivers refused to take them further. The group then contacted Heritage Aviation, which arranged a special helicopter service, the report in NDTV stated.
The students paid Rs 10,400 each for the round trip and completed the 280-km journey, which normally takes 10 hours by road, in just 25-30 minutes.
“We were very disheartened and feared losing a year, but thanks to the helicopter service, we were able to appear for our exam,” said Omaram Choudhary.
“We got to know that roads are blocked and we cannot reach our exam centre by road. We took the services of a helicopter and reached our exam centre,” Magaram Choudhary stated.
In a viral selfie video, the students can be seen waving at the camera from inside the copter. Sharing the video, Instagram handle @thewhatup wrote, “4 Rajasthan students hired a helicopter to reach their exam centre in Uttarakhand amid landslides and floods.”
