TV star Shveta Salve responds to critics who called her a ‘bad mom’ for smoking and drinking wine

After she posted a couple of photos online, TV star Shveta Salve faced relentless bullying and was accused of being a ‘bad mom’. The photos featured Salve – who was on a vacation in Goa with her family – smoking a cigarette, with a glass of wine in her hand. Many criticised her, saying that she was “setting a bad example” for her daughter. The television star has now hit back with a post of her own questioning her critics.

Salve, who initially posted the image in an Instagram story, said she received many critical messages. Salve said that she usually ignored such remarks, but decided to answer them this time because she wanted to call out people for their sexist remarks.

Salve admitted that she smokes and drinks, and wondered how it made her a bad mother.

“How does this make me a bad person or a bad mom?? Do you see me wasting my Life? Do you see me sitting unemployed n jobless? Do you see me neglecting my child?” she wrote in her post.

“So, tell me does an honest sex worker who sells her body to feed her family, to maybe get an education or to provide a life for her children is a Bad Person? A Bad Mother? A stigma to society?” she wrote.

Writing about her parents and her upbringing, she added, “They smoked and drank too but they did a mighty fine job of raising my brother and I. As children we knew that this was not something we could practice until a certain age. And that too if we ever wanted to.. a choice that we were allowed to take as adults … Today I share a drink with them, and celebrate the fact that they gave me a fabulous childhood n Life and I aspire to do the same with my Baby..”

She also shared another image of her drinking wine and said, she said that those who have a problem with her habits could unfollow her. “Live and Let live,” she wrote.
