WATCH: Rapper shares how a Puri hotel stands testament to his parents’ love story
Samir Rishu Mohanty or Rapper Big Deal shared a heartfelt story about how his Japanese mother and Indian father met and fell in love.

Hailing from Odisha’s Puri, Samir Rishu Mohanty, 25, who is better known as Rapper Big Deal, recently shared a touching story about his parents on Instagram. Born to an Indian father and a Japanese mother, Mohanty shared how they met and how a hotel in Puri is a testament to their enduring love.
“This is the story of my mom and dad,” he began in the video. He goes on to explain that his mother was an author and while in college, she had embarked on a world tour and visited Puri. “She liked Puri a lot. So, after graduation, she wanted to settle down in Puri, continue book writing. But everyone needs a source of income. So, she wanted to build a hotel for Japanese tourists,” he says in Odia.
He adds that back then, a lot of Japanese nationals used to visit Puri. But his mother could not buy land as she was a foreign national, he says. She subsequently met his father and they got married.
“Together they became business partners as they built the hotel and called it ‘Love and Life’. This hotel still stands in Puri today,” Mohanty adds.

Mohanty is quickly making a name for himself with a growing fan base of 176K Instagram followers and 326 YouTube subscribers. His latest project, the Rath Yatra 2024 special music video titled ‘Chaka Dolia’ has already captivated audiences, crossing 500,000 views.
