Chetan Bhagat recently released the teaser of his ninth book One Indian Girl, which has reportedly broken pre-order records. He also shared excerpts from the book, which many find hilarious and contentious at the same time. In the book teaser, the protagonist Radhika Mehta says, “Thank you, for reading my story. However, let me warn you. You may not like me too much. One, I make a lot of money. Two, I have an opinion on everything. Three, I’ve had sex before.”

Well, times are changing so generalising that girls who make a lot of money, have an opinion, and have had sex before marriage are not exactly not-so-likable. Something, that Bhagat has been informed in replies to his tweets.

Nevertheless, he is a renowned author and journalists would want to interview him on his upcoming book and how he managed to finally ‘decode’ the thought process of a woman, since this book has been written from a female perspective. Bhagat, who is no stranger to fame and the side-effects that such popularity – and often infamy – brings, also has several parody Twitter accounts made by others who have used various combinations/versions of his name and Twitter handle. Though, Bhagat’s authentic account does have the charactertistic blue tick, many who are not careful, might just confuse one for the other. And that is exactly what happened.

A journalist tweeted out to Bhagat asking for an interview, and got it too – except that tweet was addressed to @chetannbhagat and not @chetan_bhagat. A Twitter user grabbed a screenshot of the conversation between fake Chetan Bhagat and the journalist, and brought it to the author’s attention, who asked media to be more careful. “someone pretending to be me (notice account spelling) chatted up with several journos and even fixed meetings,” he wrote.

But guess what, Twitter, as always, didn’t spare Bhagat and had a good laugh over the whole fake Chetan-real Chetan confusion. It was hilarious when the fake account responded to his tweet saying, “I therefore request all journos to plz stop Interacting with fake @chetan_bhagat & directly coordinate with me instead!”
