Riyan Parag was born to former cricketer Parag Das — who represented Assam, Railways and East Zone cricket team—and Mithu Baruah—who was a national-level swimmer. Parag was a part of the Indian Under-19 team, which won the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He made his Twenty-20 debut for Assam in 2017 for the 2016-17 Inter-State Twenty-20 Tournament. He later made his first-class debut for Asaam in the 2017-18 Ranji Trophy.
