IndiGo’s wave of cancellations this week stranded thousands of travellers, but the disruption hit brides and grooms especially hard. One couple had to attend their own wedding reception through a video call, several others scrambled to rearrange ceremonies, and one family even resorted to booking an expensive charter flight.
Amid these stories, a viral video showed a groom cheerfully holding up his wedding invitation to fellow passengers as he explained that the airline chaos was preventing him from getting to the ceremony. Responding to others stressed about delays, he said, “I am missing my own wedding.”
Sharing the video, an X handle @NewsAlgebraIND, wrote, “Pain behind the laugh. MAN: “It’s my own wedding… and I can’t even go. What do I do, yaar?”

The video quickly gained traction, sparking a deluge of reactions, with a user saying, “If such things had happened in any western or european nations that airline would be slap with millions of dollars in compensation to customers. But india its like to happen. Indigo will get a free pass because we know.”Another user commented, “Every where everytime Indian citizens are taken granted by this profit making companies and organizations.”
“Praying that he gets married soon, all his problems settle peacefully, and everyone stuck at the airports reaches home safely,” a third user reacted.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) Saturday released an order requiring all airlines to adhere to the prescribed fare caps strictly. Despite this, passengers were stunned by the ticket prices.
In its directive, MoCA stated, “These caps will remain in force until the situation fully stabilises. The objective of this directive is to maintain pricing discipline in the market, prevent any exploitation of passengers in distress, and ensure that citizens who urgently need to travel — including senior citizens, students, and patients — are not subjected to financial hardship during this period.”
