Team India will kick off their ICC World Cup 2023 campaign against Australia at the M A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday.
The Men in Blue arrived for training in the newly unveiled orange jerseys. The Indian team would be wearing distinct orange jerseys while training during the World Cup. The training jersey’s bright orange colour drew a comparison with T-shirts worn by the delivery executives of food delivery platform Swiggy. The food aggregator also responded to the comparison on X.
Reacting to a photo of Virat Kohli in the orange jersey, Swiggy wrote, “Looks like boys in the orange jersey are ready to deliver (the world cup).”
Swiggy’s response to the tweet has gathered more than 9,000 likes.
“Moment marketing at its best!” a user commented. “Hope the trophy gets delivered to them as well,” said another. “Hope they don’t deliver it to the wrong address,” another person wrote. “Orange colour is definitely looking good on players,” another netizen posted.
During the 2019 World Cup in England, the Indian team had also sported “away” jerseys that were orange and blue. The sleeves and the back of the jersey were in orange while the front was a dark shade of blue.
Currently, the Men in Blue are in stunning form winning the Asia Cup 2023 and outplaying Australia in the three-match ODI series and winning it 2-1.
Across nine venues, India will face all the other remaining nine teams in the tournament. The hosts have to finish in the top four to reach the semi-finals of the tournament. It is a similar format to the one played in 2019 where India lost to New Zealand in the semifinals in Manchester.
