A video showing a group of pigeons attacking sacks of grains on a moving vehicle has captured the fancy of netizens. An Instagram user and artist Shibani Mitra shared a clip showing a hoard of pigeons crowding a moving vehicle and pecking at the sacks of grains.
While sharing this clip, Shibani Mitra wrote, “Hyderabad pigeons are a class apart”. The bird’s strange yet effective way of “looting” the produce has gathered over 1.3 lakh likes.
Commenting on the video, an Instagram user wrote, “Attack on ration”, referring to a popular Japanese anime series called “Attack on Titan”. Another person wrote, “Grain theft auto”, referring to the video game series “Grand theft auto”. In a similar vein, an Instagram user commented, “Alibaba aur 40 kabootar ”, referencing Arabic folktale “Alibaba and 40 chor”. An Instagram user observed, “Steal and run never been so real”.
This clip showed how birds and animals have altered their behaviour in accordance with the urban infrastructure.
In August, a video that showed a seagull ‘shoplifting’ a sandwich from a general store made waves online. The clip, taken in Scotland, showed a seagull entering a grocery store through its automatic doors.
The clever bird then picks up a packed sandwich, but finds itself stuck inside the store. Luckily, a passerby notices the bird and steps in front of the store’s automatic door to trigger its opening. After getting out, the seagull proceeds to eat the sandwich outside the shop.
Last year, a viral video showed a herd of elephants plucking out sugarcanes from a truck standing stationary in the middle of the road. Parveen Kaswan, IFS officer, shared this undated video on X. Kaswan compared the elephants’ behaviour to paying taxes and wrote, “Tax deduction at source !!”
