Nepal, located at the convergence of the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates, is part of a seismically active zone. This region’s geological setting, responsible for forming the Himalayas, leads to frequent earthquakes.
The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) recorded the tremor at 6:35 AM (IST), pinpointing the epicenter at 28.86° North latitude and 87.51° East longitude, at a depth of 10 kilometers. The quake’s location was identified in the Tibet Autonomous Region, near Nepal.
