independence day, modi speech independence day, kejriwal sleeping independence day, jaitley sleeping independence day, arvind kejriwal, arun jaitley, manohar parrikar Sleeping or not? The debate continues.

Getting up early in the morning only to sit for a rather long speech can’t be easy. We understand. But when the person delivering the speech is the country’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, the occasion is Independence Day, the location Red Fort and the audience includes dignitaries with the sharp eyes of the media on you at all times… nodding off isn’t the greatest of ideas.

Clips and photos from the video footage of the PM’s speech on Independence Day were widely shared on social media platforms – and a couple of people fared a bit poorly – especially Finance Minister Arun Jaitely, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who were all photographed with their eyes tightly shut.

While we might have given the Delhi Chief Minister the benefit of doubt – after all, he could just be listening intently, eyes closed – but when your own party members get on the defensive, there is no choice but to believe that he was, in fact, sleeping. When the photo started being shared on social media, AAP leader and former journalist Ashutosh took to Twitter to say: “Why media is so biased? Only targets AAP/Kejriwal? Jaitley/Parrikar sleeping, media not showing ? Why ? Why?”

Now, more astute tweeple took this as an admission that the CM was ‘moditating’, sorry meditating, but just getting a power nap. One Twitter member shared Ashutosh’s tweet, with the comment: “Kejriwal was sleeping confirmed by @ashutosh83B”.

In the meanwhile, Tweeple left no stone d to troll the nightmares out of the two leaders, though, it would be safe to say that so far, Kejriwal spotters have been a lot for active.

Take a look.

Some came to his defence.
