Mahakumbh Mela 2025 commenced on January 13 in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj. The world’s largest religious and spiritual congregation has been attracting devotees from across the world to take a holy dip in Sangam, the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati river. The event has also triggered a disruption in train services, with massive crowding at railway stations.
A new video from Patna Junction railway station shows hundreds of devotees trying to board a Rajdhani Express train, heading for Kumbh. Many passengers can be seen pushing their way in and out of the train. Sharing the video on X, Sukesh Rajan, a journalist, wrote, “Look at the crowd of people going to Maha Kumbh at Patna station. This is the sight of Rajdhani Express on Tuesday night.”

Several users took the opportunity to slam the government over the poor management amid Mahakumbh. “What has happened to the public? I live in a district near Haridwar and till date no one in my family has gone to take a dip in the Kumbh. We go to Har ki Pauri only when there is no crowd,” a user wrote. “They dream of a metro, 55 trillion economy by 2055! Instead of discussing the current situation, they change the name of the places,” another user commented.
“Such poor management by the government,” a third user said.
On Monday, a video of devotees vandalising the air-conditioned coaches of the Swatantrata Senani Express after they were unable to board the overcrowded train at Madhubani railway station in Bihar caused a stir on social media. The viral video shows the train’s windowpane falling on some passengers after it was shattered by the pilgrims at the platform.
Mahakumbh Mela will conclude on February 26.
