A Bangladeshi blogger and his girlfriend were scammed by an autorickshaw driver in Bengaluru, a video of which has gone viral after it was shared on the microblogging platform X.
Mritunjay Sardar shared the video on X, which was originally posted on YouTube by the Bangladeshi blogger named Md Fizz. The Bengaluru police also took note of the viral post and informed that the driver had been arrested.
In the video, the blogger said he and his girlfriend decided to take an autorickshaw to go see the Bengaluru Palace. The autorickshaw driver had agreed to go by the meter and when they reached their destination, the fare was Rs 320. The blogger handed him a Rs 500 note which is clearly visible in the video. However, the driver managed to slip the note into his sleeves and pretended that he was given a Rs 100 note that he was holding in his hand. Fizz then gave him another Rs 500 note.
“Bangladeshi blogger and his girlfriend were traveling – “Bengaluru Palace”. A local auto driver cheated them. This is how we treat foreigners ?? please take action,” Sardar, who shared the video on X, wrote as the caption.

The Sadashivanagar traffic police station responded to the post and wrote, “The auto driver has been handed over to Sadashivnagar law and order police station for further action.” They also posted a photo showing the driver in police custody.
“Happened with my parents in Bangalore near Belandur a couple of months ago. Very unsafe feeling!” a user commented. “It happened with me also when I took auto from satellite bus stand Mysore road to RR nagar Bengaluru,” said another. “Most of the auto drivers even cheat us by adding extra 20 or 30Rs or whatever amount on the meter and say us to pay so much when we get down. But they will not say this when we catch the auto. There should be strict rules against this too. They are just looting us by doing this,” shared a third.
