The rise of family vloggers in India has often meant that children too are in the spotlight. While sharing pictures of your minor family members may seem harmless at first, experts are now raising concerns about exposing little ones to large audiences and how it affects their mental health and jeopardises their privacy. All this, especially considering that minors cannot consent to how online content that features them is presented.
On Saturday, Assam Police used a set of AI-generated images and advised parents against publicly sharing videos and photos of their children on social media.
Posting the images with important messages, the state police wrote, “Likes fade, but the digital scars remain. Shield your child from the perils of Sharenting. Be mindful of what you share about your child on Social Media. #DontBeASharent”.

The post gathered much praise from netizens. A Twitter user wrote, “I don’t remember the last time I was this impressed by a police account’s campaign. Absolutely brilliant concept and execution – on a topic that deserves attention. Beautiful work, @assampolice & team! I hope this campaign gets the awards and coverage it rightfully deserves 🔥🚀”.
Another person wrote, “The need of the hour. So many parents indulge in this and virtually destroy the kid’s childhood.”
This is not the only time that the Assam Police have employed AI-generated images in their public awareness campaigns. Earlier this month, the law enforcement agency tweeted AI-made images of Bollywood-inspired cyber criminals in an attempt to raise awareness about cyber safety.
