As the Sonam Kapoor-starrer Neerja receives rave reviews from the critics as well as the ‘junta’, Amul — a brand from the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation — decided to honour the Pan Am flight attendant Neerja Bhanot by releasing a 1980s ad featuring Bhanot from her modelling days.
Bhanot’s story has piqued the curiosity of people across the country, and everyone is wants to know more about this young girl who sacrificed her life to save the lives of the passengers aboard the Pan Am flight 73 from Mumbai to Frankfurt, which was hijacked in 1986 in Karachi. She was killed just short of her 23rd birthday.
The Amul ad is being widely shared across social media circles. In the ad, a young boy is seen singing about how he is, “Too old for tricycles and too young to be a pilot.” To which his mother — played by Bhanot — responds, “But just right for Amul Chocolate.”
