Singer Abhijeet isn’t really known for diplomacy. Already earlier this year, Abhijeet had gotten into trouble with his comment on Salman Khan’s verdict. Now, on July 2, the singer yet again caused a Twitter furore when one of his tweets – with stark communal overtones – on the murder of the Chennai Infosys techie S Swathi. The tweets have been brought to the notice of the Mumbai Police, who are now looking into the matter.
The singer claimed that the murder was a case of Love Jihad. He even tweeted to the PMO Twitter handle saying “Hindu parents want #JusticeforSwati /revenge 4 our child #SWATI who was butchered by #LoveJihad…”
Quite naturally, the tweet did not go down well in Twitterverse, with people hitting back with a series of protest tweets, some even asking for the arrest of the singer.
this man should be arrested https://t.co/JcspL7pX5N

It was in response to this last tweet by Swati Chaturvedi, in which she says “@abhijeetsinger is jealous of Pakistani singers who took his mediocre career! Even tried to incite SS against them!”, that Abhijeet went on a rant against Pakistanis, Pakistani singers and the Muslim community. When others raised objections to the tonality and the uncouth language used in his tweets, the singer minced no words while responding to them either.
Here are some of his tweets:

There were some fans, though, who tweeted in support of Abhijeet, asking others to mind their language…
@PreetiSMenon Why are u calling @abhijeetsinger as scum ? Have some dignity ma’am. if he ll reply u in ur language then u ll play women card
— Mr. Singh (@TommSingh) July 2, 2016
…but Abhijeet didn’t even let go of that, and decided to put his own two cents into the conversation as well.
Pls respect her .. even if she is ugly or pichhli https://t.co/CA7lyQTxc7
— abhijeet (@abhijeetsinger) July 2, 2016
The singer even took on the Twitter user who said that he should be arrested for his communal comments, saying: “Please arrest me .. Bcos I kick these anti Hindus, Hindustan haters, Paki supporters irrespective of their gender”.

Calling out to Bollywood and Leftists, Abhijeet defended his rant citing patriotism:

Later in the day, Mumbai Police took note of the complaint made by Chaturvedi in her tweet, and responded asking her to make a formal complaint so that they could “help us understand the situation better”.
