In Amherst, Western New York, Just Pizza & Wing Co. has come up with a unique and heartwarming way to connect shelter animals with potential adopters. Since March, the pizzeria has been adorning its pizza boxes with colourful flyers featuring photos and details of dogs in search of forever homes.
The brains behind this creative initiative is Mary Alloy, the owner of Just Pizza & Wing Co. Alloy’s inspiration to make a difference struck while volunteering at the Niagara SPCA, where she witnessed the challenges of finding homes for shelter animals. Determined to contribute, Alloy decided to leverage her pizza business to bring attention to these lovable pups.
The concept is simple yet effective – each pizza box carries a snapshot of an adorable dog along with essential information about their personality, age and adoption requirements. Customers, while indulging in their favourite pizzas, are presented with an opportunity to consider adding a furry friend to their families.
One success story that stands out is Larry, a charming puppy who captured hearts through his pizza box debut and found a loving family.
The initiative not only benefits the shelter animals but also strengthens the bond between the local community and this compassionate pizza joint.
