Social media, on Wednesday, has been dominated by bone-chilling videos of the raging Palisades Fire that continues to engulf Los Angeles. Amid the mass evacuation triggered by the wildfire, Los Angeles authorities declared a state of emergency.

A video showing the fire rapidly spreading, filmed from an airplane, is quickly gaining attention online. The footage captures the region covered in an eerie orange hue, as flames and smoke engulf the landscape. “The entire hill is on fire,” the man filming can be heard saying in the video.

“View of the fires from a plane. Prayers for Southern California. This is crazy,” an X handle @TONYxTWO captioned the video.

The video amassed over 3,00,000 views. Many social media users reacted to the video, praying for the safety of those affected by the fire. “I swear this looks like a mass wave of water just coming into LA, but it’s fire. Praying for southern Cali,” a user wrote. “Thousands evacuating, homes incinerated, and wildfires turning Los Angeles into a living hell. The winds are throwing gasoline on the flames—this is straight-up apocalyptic. Stay safe out there,” another user commented.

“hope people dont lose too much in this tragedy,” a third user said.

Homes and businesses along Pacific Coast Highway are being consumed by the Palisades fire, with the blaze visible to Hollywood, the Los Angeles Times reported.

LA developer and billionaire businessman Rick Caruso informed that several homes near his Palisades Village shopping center were “completely engulfed” in flames, and the center, which opened in 2018, sustained damage. He also revealed that his daughter’s home was destroyed in the blaze, and his family was anxiously awaiting news on whether one of his sons had also lost his home, the reports said.
