However much the world seems to have progressed, when it comes to matters such as transphobia, religious fanaticism, etc., people still seem to have a long way to go. These are some really grave problems that people are grappling with, especially because it is difficult to explain things to people driven mainly by misinformation and lack of knowledge.
But those who are committed to bringing about a change and fighting stigma in the world seem to be doing their best to make it a better place. Take for instance Pakistan’s first transperson and trans people’s rights activist to have become a successful trans model Kami Sid.
Kami Sid was part of a photo shoot in association with stylist Waqar J Khan and make-up artist Nighat Misbah recently, and she looked no less than a beautiful goddess as she posed for photographer Haseeb M Siddiqi.
According to The Express Tribune, Kami Sid fights for equal rights for the transgender community against a high level of intolerance that the community faces in the society. Sid is as a transgender woman and believes ‘she’ describes her the best. She is popularly regarded as the next Laxmi Narain Tripathi, the veteran trans rights activist in India.
The shoot that Sid was reportedly aimed at breaking stereotypes and fighting stigma. Take a look at some of the pictures here, shared by Khan, the stylist, on his Instagram account.
Reportedly, Sid for the longest time used to think she was mentally challenged because she was different from the others and it was only after she met others from her community she understood she wasn’t.
