Oscar Awards 2025: Adam Sandler turns up in sweatshirt and shorts; unconventional look amuses netizens

Adam Sandler may not have been nominated for an Oscar this year, but that did not stop the actor-comedian from making a memorable entrance at the prestigious ceremony.
“Adam, what are you wearing?” host Conan O’Brien asked Sandler from the stage at the 2025 Oscars. “You look like a guy playing video poker at 2 am,” he added. The Reign Over Me actor was sporting his signature look, which includes a collared Hawaiian shirt, a loose logo hoodie, basketball shorts, and colourful sneakers.
Sandler quickly responded, “Nobody even noticed what I was wearing until you pointed it out. I like how I look because I’m a good person. My snazzy gym shorts and cozy sweatshirt offend you so much that you had to call me out in front of all these people!”
Further, he leaned in toward Timothée Chalamet and, using his ‘Sandler voice’, shouted, “Chalamet!” before pulling the actor into a big, bear hug, causing the crowd to burst into laughter. As he made his way out, Sandler casually invited everyone in the room to join him for a “five-on-five basketball game at Veteran Park tonight”, then stumbled over the name of a classic horror film, saying, “With the guy from… ‘Nosterafu’. He’s on my team.”

The video is winning hearts on social media, prompting a sea of reactions. “Everyone in that room wishes they could be so free,” a user wrote.
“You either Love Sandler or ya Hate him. I think he’s great and has some awesome movies,” another commented. “Can’t wait for when I reach this level of success,” a third user reacted.

Director Sean Baker’s romantic comedy-drama Anora led the night with five wins – Best Picture, Best Actress (Mikey Madison), Best Director, Best Film Editing and Best Original Screenplay – while Emilia Pérez, Conclave, The Brutalist, and Wicked also won in different categories.
