Hurricane Helene, a Category 4 hurricane, made its landfall in the United States of America’s Florida. At least 56 people have been confirmed dead, with officials fearing more victims would be reported in the coming days across the southeastern US. A terrifying video of hospital staff and patients stranded on the roof of a hospital in Tennessee amid strong flood water is doing the rounds on the internet.

The viral clip captured the vicinity of the hospital inundated in flood water. Several people can be seen walking on the roof, clueless. According to ABC News, at least 54 people were trapped on the roof of the Unicoi County Hospital, located in the northeastern part of Tennessee.

The report further stated that ambulances immediately evacuated many patients, but the flooding was so rapid that the ambulances could not safely approach the premises to evacuate the staff.

Many social media users reacted to the video. An Instagram user wrote, “I thought they were told to evacuate and they moved people.” Another user commented, “This suppose to teach em how and where to put the drains when water drained off to mitigate against the next hurricane.”

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden addressed the media over Hurricane Helene, calling the devastation “overwhelming.” “Jill and I continue to pray for all those who have lost loved ones and for everyone impacted by this storm. Our focus is on life-saving and life-sustaining response efforts in the Southeast,” Biden said, as reported by Associated Press.

Biden also declared a state of emergency in Tennessee and announced federal aid for recovery efforts. Similar declarations were made in other affected states, including Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina.
