To come of age gives a great joy to us all. Haven’t we all waited in anticipation in excitement on our 18th birthday, or the day that we officially became an adult? We are sure Google did too! It is the 18th birth anniversary of Google — our constant guide and go-to person for the answers to all difficult questions we have faced. And what better way to officiate the celebrations, than with a Google doodle! Today, on September 27, 2016, the Internet giant has an animated google doodle sharing its happiness with web users across the world. The company was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin in 1998 and successfully completes its run for 18 long years, today!
The adorable animated doodle shows G in ‘Google’ trying to inflate balloons for the birthday celebrations and flying up along with them!
There’s also a funny story behind its birthday date. According to a Telegraph report, Google doesn’t really seem to know when it was formed! Yes, because up until 2006, Google celebrated its birthday on September 26. If you think their confusion ended there, you are wrong! In 2004, the sixth doodle celebrating Google’s birthday went up on the Internet on September 7 in 2004 and before that, it had come up on September 8. So confusing, isn’t it!
The company however reportedly has its own history listing its incorporation date as September 4 in 1998, and this could be the the closest to what its corporate birth date could be. Reportedly, the company has admitted to have celebrated its birthday on four different dates, but it seems September 27 has stuck around, the reason probably it being the date the first birthday doodle was used in the year 1992.
But all technicalities apart, we wish Google a very happy birthday! Keep enlightening us forever, Google!
