Donald Trump, the Republican party’s nominee for US President, was one of the biggest news makers across the world over the past year, thanks largely to the divisive and irrational rhetoric he spewed during his campaign. In the initial stages after Trump announced his intention to run for the most powerful office in the world, his campaign was largely taken as a joke, that was bound to lose steam as the election cycle progressed. But his critics were proved wrong again and again as his opponents on the primary stage, one after another, fell like a pack of cards. He mounted an extremist line on tackling illegal immigration and vowed to build a big wall on the US-Mexico border. He also demanded a temporary ban on all Muslims entering the US as a result of increasing terror incidents in the country. His statements on a particular woman journalist prompted outrage across the country. But all these did little to dissuade voters from rooting for Trump as he won the big states and created a big gap between him and his nearest rival, Senator Ted Cruz from Texas. He now faces former secretary of state and presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton on the general election stage.

Trump’s recent statements have greater resonance in the backdrop of the horrific gunfire at the gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida where 50 people were killed by a lone gunman, who reportedly pledged allegiance to the Islamic State terror group in a 911 call before the attack. He said he was proven right on ‘radical Islamic terrorism’and reasserted the need for a temporary ban on all Muslim immigrants coming into the US.

As Trump turns 70 on June 14, we remember all the outrageous and absurd stuff he has said on Twitter as a sort of birthday gift. We hope you like it, Mr Trump.

Because insulting people is the new sexy.

Global warming? Oh yeah, it’s a hoax.

He’s got constructive criticism, you see.

Way to respond to all your critics. This was way back in 2012 though.

He takes his rivalry with Anthony Weiner very seriously.

His comments on celebrities and actors are a hoot.

And then the Obama tirade began.

He says he respects women. We can clearly see that.

‘It’s not your fault.’ He’s born wise.

There’s no such thing as bad press. Or so it seems.

Goofy! Way to slam people.

Often, when people don’t praise you, you go right ahead and praise yourself.

If you get tired of ‘goofy’, try ‘crooked’. Works wonders.

Finally, on a completely unrelated topic. But quite insightful, as you see.
