If there’s one thing Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is good at, it’s his inane ability to stay in the limelight. And at times when he is not doing it himself, his loyal following of overenthusiastic trollers are doing the work for him. From toilet papers, dog waste bag dispenser to butt plugs, his presence is everywhere. Not to forget the famous Trump-face toilets! Recently, another item made it to this list of bizarre and it’s the Trump Sandwich.

Cafes around the world are taking the liberty of reimagining the American billionaire as a sandwich; making sly innuendos of what they think of Trump. Available in the form of white bread with fillings of ‘full of baloney’ pork sausage, Russian dressing and some pickle, these sandwiches are actually trending globally. Some places are serving it with the ‘wall of Mexican chips’. While others like The Windsor Sandwich Shop, a restaurant in Windsor, Ontario, Canada is serving it with a warning, “Disclaimer: If you come in to order this you may not get what you were told you were buying.”

So popular are these sandwiches that there is an on-going debate regarding its origin. While some newspapers and websites in the UK have attributed this creation to a café in Belfast – the capital city of Northern Ireland – social media is on fire suggesting that it made its first appearance in Canada.

According to a report by the Independent, the creator of the sandwich in Belfast, Faye McFarland said, “Everyone takes the political world so seriously. I wanted to infuse it with a bit of humour. At this stage of the year, with the elections in America I thought –it’s an eye catcher. It’s just to catch people’s eye. I didn’t do it as a political statement.”
