Chinese gymnast works at parents’ restaurant after winning silver at Paris Olympics, netizens call her ‘so humble’

Shared on August 13, the video has got nearly three million views as social media users hailed Yaqin for her gesture. An X user wrote, “Hard work and feet on the ground.” Another user commented, “It’s heartwarming to see Zhou Yaqin balancing her Olympic success with family responsibilities. So humble!”

“Working hard and earning for the family is a noble job. She should be proud. Her medal moment is immortalized in the world of the Internet,” a third user reacted. “That’s incredible. According to the state-run China Global Television Network, the restaurant is in Hengyang city in the central province of Hunan.

Zhou Yaqin went viral during the medal ceremony at the Olympics. The gymnast was caught in a charmingly awkward moment alongside Italy’s Alice D’Amato and Manila Esposito.
