Traffic stops for more reasons than one but what if cars come to a halt to make way for an alligator? Bizarre, isn’t it? This is what happened on a Monday morning in Florida when a five-foot long alligator decided to cross the road in Palm Coast.

In the picture posted by Flagler County Sheriff’s Office on its Facebook page, the two officers can be seen allowing the gator to cross while the traffic is asked to stop. “It was sitting by the crosswalk and suddenly scampered across the entire roadway in the crosswalk. Goncalves and Deputy Jonathon Duenas stopped traffic to allow the critter to cross, which took about 30 seconds,” said FCSO Corporal Kenny Goncalves.

The trapper was immediately called from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission but the alligator entered the woods and the call was cancelled.

“He just walked in the crosswalk like it was normal,” Goncalves said.

The post has gone viral with over 2800 shares.
